The Story of a unique Passion

In 1984, Aquaman invented the neoprene wetsuit for triathlon. Since then, Aquaman has continually developed innovations and refined its patterns to offer the most high-performance triathlon and open-water swimming wetsuits.

1976

Creation

Creation of the Aquaman brand by Fernand Merian.

1982

First triathlon

Triathlon truly became known in Europe during the first International Nice Triathlon. While watching the event on TV, Xavier Merian decided to create a triathlon wetsuit.

1984

First triathlon wetsuit in the world

Aquaman launches the world’s first triathlon wetsuit.

1986

First glued and sewn full wetsuit

Aquaman produces the first glued and sewn full wetsuit using a new neoprene quality from Japan (Yamamoto #39).

1992

Simon Lessing – World Champion

British athlete Simon Lessing becomes short-distance World Champion and will go on to win the title five times. He proudly represents Aquaman worldwide for more than 12 years with the Pulsar wetsuit.

1994

1st victory at the Ironman Hawaii

First victory for an Aquaman triathlete at the legendary Ironman Hawaii: Australian athlete Greg Welch.

2000

Two Aquaman triathletes become Olympic champions

At the Sydney Olympic Games, triathlon becomes an Olympic sport. Two Aquaman athletes win Olympic gold: Canadian Simon Whitfield and Swiss athlete Brigitte Mac Mahon.

2019

Vincent Luis - World Champion

Vincent Luis from the Aquaman Team becomes World Champion with the Gold wetsuit!

2020

Vincent Luis World Champion again

Vincent Luis wins the Triathlon World Champion title for the second time.

2024

Cassandre Beaugrand, Olympic and World Champion

Cassandre Beaugrand becomes Olympic Champion at the Paris Games and World Triathlon Champion.
